In The Presence of
My Enemies
Thou dost prepare a table before
me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my
cup overflows. Psalm 23:5
In the painting of "Fear
No Evil" the sheep are coming down a steep hillside into a shadowy
valley below. In this one, the same steep hill can be seen in the background
but the sheep have come out into a wonderful sunny meadow with a stream
wandering through it. The sheep are happily eating the tender green grass.
There are outcroppings of rocks
around the edges where two wolves are peering at the sheep. They would like
very much to have mouthwatering lamb chops for dinner.
Because the sheep are in the
care and protection of the Shepherd they are not concerned about the wolves.
The Shepherd is not visible in the painting but the sheep can see Him and
they are content.
